Biography

Prof. Ali Sheikh Ahmed is the Director of the East Africa Association for Development and Research (DAD) and co-founder, former President of Mogadishu University. Professor Ahmed has obtained his bachelor, master and PhD from The Islamic University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He since has been involved in numerous academic and political activities in Somalia.

Additionally, he was a member and one of the founders of the “Somali Civic Forum”, a reconciliation platform formed in 2004. Professor Ali Sheikh Ahmed has published several books in topics related to education, volunteerism and Islamic history in Horn of Africa in addition to a collection of poems. He has been awarded internationally by universities, and locally by civil society, and the Federal Parliament of Somalia for his academic achievements and social service.
